Hyundai Introduces Newest, Largest SUV

Hyundai's newest and largest SUV, the three-row 2020 Palisade, will arrive this summer as the automaker's new flagship SUV as part of a wider push by Hyundai to add utility models to its lineup to respond to shifting market demand toward SUVs and crossovers.

The all-new Hyundai Palisade offers three rows of seating and is built atop an all new chassis.  All of the vehicle’s exterior dimensions, such as length, width, height, and wheelbase beat out the dimensions of the company’s previously largest vehicle: the 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe XL.

Hyundai introduced its newest and largest SUV, the Hyundai Palisade at the LA Auto show this week.

The new flagship SUV is being released at a time when market demand is shifting heavily in favor toward SUVs and crossovers. The Palisade release is meant to be continue the manufacturers release of SUVs to match that shift in demand.

So far this year, the company has released and refreshed five SUV models: the Hyundai Kona, Hyundai Kona electric, all-new 2019 Santa Fe, a redesigned Hyundai Tucson, and the Hyundai Palisade.

And, there’s one more SUV the company plans to announce next year in an SUV segment it’s not currently serving.

By 2020, Hyundai expects SUVs to make up 55% of its market share.

The all-new Hyundai Palisade offers three rows of seating and is built atop an all new chassis.  All of the vehicle’s exterior dimensions, such as length, width, height, and wheelbase beat out the dimensions of the company’s previously largest vehicle: the 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe XL.

Inside, the Palisade features amenities meant to cater to a modern family. USB ports are offered in every row and the second row offers a one-touch access to the third row.

To make communication with the front row and third-row passengers easier, the Palisade also features an intercom system to speak with the third row and a conversation mirror that allows the driver to clearly see passengers in the rear.

In terms of powertrain, the 2020 Hyundai Palisade is equipped with a 3.8-liter V6, dual continous variable valve timing, direct-injected engine that produces an estimated 291 hp and 262 lb.-ft. of torque.

On the safety technology front, forward collision avoidance assist with pedestrian detection, blind spot collision-avoidance assist, lane following assist, rear cross-traffic collision avoidance assist, safe exit assist, high beam assist, driver attention warning, and smart cruise control with stop and go will come standard with the vehicle.

The 2020 Palisade is scheduled to release in early summer 2019.
