After the light-duty Ram 1500 was updated in 2024, the Ram Heavy Duty lineup gets its turn with added towing capabilities, quicker 0-to-60 times, and more tech for 2025.

The 2025 Ram 2500 and 3500 Heavy Duty models feature two engines — the standard 6.4-liter HEMI V-8 engine and a new 6.7-liter Cummins Turbo Diesel engine that produces 430 hp and 1,075 lb.-ft. of torque.

The new 8-Speed TorqueFlite HD Transmission replaces the 6-speed automatic transmission from 2024 models.

2025 Ram Heavy Duty: More Efficient Towing

With the new Cummins engine, the latest 2500 gains about 1,000 lbs. in maximum towing capacity over the previous model. Max towing for the 3500 stays about the same but has moved from the 4.10 axle ratio to a more efficient 3.42 axle ratio for better fuel efficiency without sacrificing performance.

The 2025 Ram 2500 shaves a full 1.1 seconds off its 0 to 60 time (6.9 seconds vs 8.0 seconds).

2025 Ram Heavy Duty: Exterior, Interior Upgrades

On the outside, the 2025 Ram Heavy Duty hasn’t strayed too far from its roots, but a new grille and split-LED headlamps give it a more modern look.

Inside, the new Uconnect 5 infotainment system goes big with a new 14.5-inch driver’s screen, 10.25-inch passenger screen, and 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster.

The passenger screen offers an HDMI plug to connect a device that turns the touchscreen into a projected extension of the device that allows internet searches, music and app use through the Uconnect 5 system.

The layout is completed with a digital rearview mirror and a dual wireless phone charging pad. The dial shifter moves to the column to free up dash space.

2025 Ram Heavy Duty: What Else is New?

Other new features for 2025 include:

  • An on-board power inverter that can produce up to 2.4 kilowatts and features two covered 110-volt outlets inside the bed.

  • Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Collision Warning-Plus, ParkSense Assist arenow standard on the Big Horn trim and higher, where they were previously only available as options on all trim levels.

  • Drowsy driver detection, traffic sign recognition, and active lane management are new safety features for 2025.

  • The 360-Degree Surround-View Camera with Trailer Reverse Guidance provides a single display view of both sides of a trailer. While a 360-degree surround-view camera was available as an option on higher trims in 2024, the trailer reverse guidance was not included.
