Its 800-volt architecture supports DC fast charging at up to 330 kW. A DC converter is standard to allow charging at 400-volt DC fast-charging stations.

At select Mercedes-Benz charging hubs, the vehicle can also automatically reserve a charging station 15 minutes before arrival when route guidance is active.

Dual-Motor AWD and Two-Speed Transmission

The GLC 400 4MATIC Electric uses electric drive units at the front and rear axles. The rear drive unit incorporates a two-speed transmission, with first gear intended for acceleration, towing and lower-speed efficiency and second gear used for higher-speed driving. Top speed is electronically limited to 130 mph.

A new One-Box braking system combines regenerative and friction braking. Mercedes-Benz says regenerative braking handles more than 99% of braking events during everyday driving and can provide up to 300 kW of recuperation. Four regenerative braking settings are available, including a one-pedal driving mode.

More Passenger and Cargo Space

The electric GLC has a 117-inch wheelbase, 3.3 inches longer than the combustion-engine GLC. Mercedes-Benz says the additional length provides 0.5 inches more front legroom and 1.9 inches more rear legroom. Front and rear headroom increase by 1.8 inches and 0.6 inches, respectively.

Cargo capacity is 20.1 cubic feet behind the rear seats and 61.4 cubic feet with them folded. A front trunk provides another 4.5 cubic feet of storage.

MB.OS Adds AI-Based Technology

The electric GLC uses Mercedes-Benz's new MB.OS operating system, which manages functions including infotainment, driver-assistance systems, comfort features and charging. The system supports over-the-air software updates.

The fourth-generation MBUX system incorporates AI technology from Microsoft, Google and ChatGPT. Its virtual assistant uses a multi-agent system and can retain context during conversations, while Google technology supports navigation-related queries.

An optional 39.1-inch MBUX Hyperscreen is the largest continuous display offered in a Mercedes-Benz vehicle to date. Other configurations offer the MBUX Superscreen with separate 10.25-inch driver, 14-inch center and 14-inch passenger displays.

Optional equipment includes AIRMATIC air suspension and rear-axle steering. The rear wheels can turn up to 4.5 degrees opposite the front wheels at speeds below 37 mph, reducing the turning circle by three feet.
