When fleets need a little more cargo space and a little more power, they turn to the Class 3-7 truck segment, also often referenced as medium-duty.

The Class 3-7 segment covers trucks with 14,001 to 33,000-pound gross vehicle weight ratings (GVWR). Class 3-6 medium-duty units do not require a commercial driver’s license (CDL) but the Class 7 models do. There is a huge lineup of trucks in this segment ready and available for 2021.
Chevrolet Low Cab Forward
The medium-duty Chevrolet Low Cab Forward is available in 3500 & 4500, 4500 HD & 4500 XD, and 5500 HD and 5550 XD all available in either Regular or Crew Cab configurations. The 3500 & 4500 models are powered by the 6.0L gasoline V-8 engine.
Also available is the 6500 XD featuring a 25,950-pound GVWR and powered by a 5.2L turbodiesel four-cylinder engine. A choice of eight wheelbases and body lengths up to 30 feet are available on the 6500 XD.
Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD/3500HD
Featuring the standard 6.6L V-8 gas engine with direct injection, rated at 401 hp and 464 lb.-ft. of torque, the trucks can also be powered by the Duramax 6.6L V-8 turbodiesel.
The trucks offer a max towing capacity of 35,500 pounds and are offering in five trim levels: Work Truck, Custom, LT, LTZ, and High Country offered across 22 cab, bed, chassis, and driveline configurations.
The Silverado HD lineup also features up to 15 unique camera views.
Ford Super Duty Pickup (F-250, F-350 & F-450)
The Ford Super Duty pickup truck lineup covers the F-250, F-350, and F-450. The trucks are powered by a 7.3L V-8, 6.2L V-8, or the 6.7L Power Stroke diesel V-8. Trailering tech includes Pro Trailer Backup Assist and Trailer Reverse Guidance built to accommodate all trailer styles, including conventional, fifth-wheel, and gooseneck designs.
They also offer driver assist features such as Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking, as well as Adaptive Cruise Control and Steering.
Ford Super Duty Chassis Cab (F-350, F-450, F-550 & F-600)
The F-600 Super Duty made its debut for the 2020-MY to fill the gap between the F-550 and F-650 models. The F-600 is available with a 7.3L gasoline V-8 or 6.7L Power Stroke Diesel V-8 and OEM 4x2 or 4x4 drivetrain.
F-Series chassis cabs offer a range of driver-assist technology such as auto high beam headlamps and available automatic emergency braking and audible lane departure warnings.
Ford F-650 & F-750
The Ford F-650 and F-750 are conventional chassis cab trucks available with the 7.3L gasoline V-8 or the 6.7L Power Stroke diesel V-8 mated to a 6-speed TorqShift heavy-duty automatic transmission. Available driver assist technologies include automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and lane departure warning.
A variety of fuel tank sizes, heavy-duty alternator, and body-builder specific harnesses and wiring ensure these trucks are ready for any upfit.
Freightliner M2 106
Available as a truck or tractor, the M2 106 supports a wide range of bodies and chassis-mounted equipment. It has a GVWR of up to 66,000 pounds. It is upfit friendly and features a sloped hood, low-profile dash, and 2,500 square-inch windshield for enhanced visibility. The trucks are constructed from corrosion-resistant aluminum reinforced with e-coated steel. M2 106 trucks are available in several configurations from utility to pickup and delivery to emergency response.
Freightliner M2 112
The M2 112 features a GVWR of up to 80,000 pounds and a standard Detroit DD13 engine. A clear back-of-cab platform helps make it easy to upfit the truck to specific fleet needs. The medium-duty truck is ideal for bulk haul, fire and rescue, flatbed, regional distribution, and truckload/less-than-truckload applications as well as in a compressed natural gas (CNG) option. It can be spec’ed in a day cab, extended cab, or crew cab configuration and choice of three engine options.
Freightliner 108SD
Multiple power take-off (PTO) options are available on the Freightliner 108SD. The trucks front-engine, rear-engine, and transmission PTO options allow for flexibility and consistent power output. The trucks are engineered for driver safety and are lightweight yet tough. The 108SD is ideal for a variety of applications from construction and crane to dump truck, plow, and fire and rescue. Available in a day cab, extended cab, or crew cab configuration and choice of manual or automatic transmissions.
Freightliner 114SD
The 114SD was designed with a clear back-of-cab platform for ease in upfits and smart power take-off (PTO) packaging that allows a cleaner installation behind the cab while providing maximized power outputs. Featuring a 2,500 square-inch windshield and contoured hood, the 114SD offers enhanced operator visibility. The truck is available with the Detroit DD8 engine and the new Cummins X12 engine and three cab configurations (day cab, extended cab, and crew cab).
GMC Sierra 2500HD/3500HD
The GMC Sierra 2500HD and 3500HD truck models are powered by the standard 6.0L V-8 gasoline engine with an available Duramax 6.6L turbodiesel. The trucks feature crew cab models with 6-foot 6-inch or 8-foot boxes and single- and dual-rear-wheel configurations are available. Off-road suspension is available on SLE and SLT models without the All Terrain package. An available Snow Plow Prep package is also available.
Hino M Series
The Hino M Series Class 4 and Class 5 cabover engine lineup replaces the 155 and 195 models. For the 2021 model year, the Hino M4 and M5 have been upgraded with a new grille design, optional LED headlights, and a new HD 6-speed Aisin automatic transmission with gear hold feature. Hino said it also has the industry’s first OE fully integrated lane departure warning system in this vehicle segment.
Hino L Series
The Hino L Series replaces the 238 through 330 conventional model lineup. The L6 (Class 6) and L7 (Class 7) trucks are equipped with the Hino J08 8.0L diesel engine as well as extended cab and crew cab configurations. The medium-duty trucks employ a suite of safety features with the Hino Active Safety Suite. The Hino L Series cab also features exterior grab handles, deep all-weather grip steps, and extra-wide door openings. The Hino L6 and Hino L7 conventional models boast a bolder look, with a chrome grille and an aero lower spoiler, with optional LED headlights.
Hino XL Series
Part of Hino’s XL Series that also includes the XL8 Class 8 truck, the XL7 is powered by the 9.0L Hino A09 diesel engine. The Hino XL Series gets new features for the 2021 model-year, including the extended cab and crew cab configurations seen on the L Series, plus a snow plow package complete with an 18,000-pound-GVW front axle and front frame extensions. The Hino XL7 and XL8 will now come standard with a driver’s seatbelt sensor and available adaptive cruise control, building on the trucks’ current active safety solutions.
International CV Series
The CV Series by International was built specifically for medium-duty applications and is powered by the International 6.6L gas engine. The truck features a forward tile hood for easy access. It also offers straight frame rails with no rivets on the top flange and a clean cab-to-axle for easy body mounting as well as offers optional exhaust outlets and multiple wheelbase options for a variety of vocations.
International MV Series
Powered by a choice of the Cummins B6.7 diesel engine or the Cummins L9 diesel, the International MV Series is ideal for delivery, dump truck, and towing applications. The trucks feature Navistar’s DiamondLogic and a “driver first” design with a large cab and customizable switches and controls. With three transmission options, the MV Series can be spec’ed as an extended cab, day cab, or crew cab model.
International DuraStar
Ideal for a large variety of vocational applications from fire and rescue to food & beverage and everything in between the International DuraStar is available in day cab, extended cab, or crew cab and is powered by a choice of the Cummins B6.7 diesel engine or the Cummins L9 diesel engine. The trucks are available in either a 4x2 or 6x4 axle configuration and either the 4300 or 4400 model.
Isuzu N-Series (Gas)
N-Series gas trucks are built for the long haul and can be retrofitted for compressed natural gas (CNG) or liquefied petroleum gas (LPG). Whether you need a landscaping, dump, refrigerated, or box van body, the 297-hp N-Series gas truck has a chassis to accommodate. Choose from a Standard Cab with seating for three or a Crew Cab with seating for up to seven. Offering four wheelbases from 109 to 176-inches, the N-Series gas truck can accommodate bodies ranging from 10 to 20 feet and have a GVWR up to 14,500 pounds. The 2020i NPR and NPR-HD will be powered by a new V-8 engine and start production in August 2020.
Isuzu N-Series (Diesel)
Isuzu N-Series diesel truck models range from Class 3-5 and offer multiple wheelbase offerings. Powered by a 5.2L turbocharged diesel engine with 215-hp and 452 lb.-ft. of torque. This diesel engine is built to last with a B10 Rating or 375,000 miles. Choose from a Standard Cab with seating for three or a Crew Cab with seating for up to seven. Every new Isuzu Diesel N-Series truck incorporates a Data Recording Module (DRM) that monitors the truck’s performance and enables Isuzu Dealer’s technicians to produce an Isuzu Vehicle Health Report.
Isuzu FTR
The Isuzu FTR was designed for the urban environment and fits numerous applications across many vocational markets. From food delivery to construction, the FTR can be upfitted across its offering of eight wheelbases. Powered by an Isuzu 5.2L turbocharged four-cylinder diesel engine mated to an Allison transmission, the FTR is equipped for the most demanding hauls. The truck also features three across seating and eight wheelbase options.
Kenworth T270 & T370
Kenworth T270 and T370 trucks are custom engineered and built with long-term business goals in mind. The T270 is a true Class 6 vehicle rated at 26,000-pounds GVW. It is available as a straight truck and can be configured for non-CDL operation to broaden your pool of drivers. The Class 7 T370, straight truck or tractor, offers a GVW range from 26,001 to 66,000 pounds. The trucks are powered by a standard PACCAR PX-7 6.7L engine.
Kenworth K270 & K370
The Kenworth K270 Class 6 and K370 Class 7 truck are rated at 26,000 pounds and 33,000 pounds GVW, respectively. Featuring a low chassis weight and 63.4 inch BBC dimension, these trucks are optimized for weight sensitive and high-volume payloads such as pickup and delivery, towing, refrigerated van, roll-off, and landscape applications. Standard equipment includes the PACCAR PX-7 engine mated to an Allison 5- or 6-speed automatic transmission. The chassis starts at only 10,000 pounds, helping maximize payload potential.
Kenworth K270E & K370E
Kenworth K270E Class 6 and K370E Class 7 battery-electric trucks feature high-density battery packs that deliver up to a 200-mile range with zero emissions and a rapid one-hour DC recharge for the 100-mile range and two-hour charge for the 200-mile range. Perfect for local distribution, pickup and delivery, and last-mile logistics applications. Choose from two direct-drive motors rated at 355 hp and 469 hp. All components necessary to run the e-powertrain, as well as HVAC, are in one, easy-to-reach power cradle under the cab - the space typically occupied by a diesel engine.
Mack MD6 & MD7
The all-new Mack Trucks medium-duty MD series is available in three models —MD6, MD6 Low Profile, and MD7. Choose from a range of eight different wheelbase sizes — from 10 to 26 feet. All MD Series trucks are powered by the Cummins B6.7L, with six available horsepower options from the standard 220 hp up to 300 hp. Engines with 250 hp and higher are rated at 660 lb.-ft. of torque. The Mack MD6 and MD7 models, available in 4x2 configurations, are ideal for dry van/refrigerated, tank truck, dump, stake, and flatbed applications.
Mitsubishi Fuso FE180 Gas
The FUSO FE180 GAS features a GM 6.0L gasoline engine paired to an Allison 1000 Series 6-speed automatic transmission. The Class 5 truck features an optional transmission power take-off (PTO), 40-gallon in-rail fuel tank, and comprehensive safety features. The truck is backed by a five-year/75,000-mile powertrain limited warranty and free extended transmission warranty. Production of 2021-MY gas trucks concluded in September with Fuso’s announcement to discontinue any future new trucks for the U.S. and Canada. However, Fuso will continue truck sales until remaining stock, both dealership and MFTA inventories, are gone.
Peterbilt Model 220 & 220 EV
Designed for driver productivity, the Model 220 features an expansive windshield and extra-large side mirrors, enhanced maneuverability, rugged protection, and convenient storage. The Model 220 offers driver comfort, easy service, entry safety features, and vigorous power. The 220 is available with a GVW of 26,000-33,000 pounds. The Model 220EV is Peterbilt’s first electric configuration for medium-duty applications and provides customers a zero emission Class 6 or 7 vehicle with a range of up to 200 miles on a full charge.
Peterbilt Model 325 & 330 EV
The Peterbilt Model 325 and 330 is big enough to tackle many jobs without requiring a commercial driver’s license (CDL) to operate. The configurable cab for Class 5-6 applications is ideal for delivery, landscaping, municipal utilities, and more. The single axle provides added maneuverability, plus better fuel economy with reduced weight. SmartNav is available. The 325 is equipped with
a lightweight PACCAR PX-7 engine featuring a common rail fuel system. Both trucks feature a single axle, which provides added manueverability.
Peterbilt Model 337
The Model 337 is equipped with a PACCAR PX-9 engine and features a common rail fuel system. The available PACCAR PX-7 helps achieve weight savings and increase efficiency. The 337 is available with a choice of Bendix Wingman advanced or Wabco OnGuardACTIVE collision mitigation systems. Optional all-wheel drive is also available as well as a full range of suspension options. The truck can be configured as a Class 7 truck or tractor, ideal for wrecker, tanker, municipal utilities, and more. SmartNav keeps the truck connected.
Peterbilt Model 348
The Model 348 represents a GVW beginning at 33,000 pounds and optional capacity ratings to suit almost any specialty vocation. A multiplex electrical system offers diagnostic simplicity and reliability with clearly numbered, color-coded wiring. Optional SmartNav provides real-time truck monitoring, truck-specific navigation, hands-free Bluetooth connectivity, and satellite radio all on a seven-inch full color touch screen. The truck features optional all-wheel drive for extra traction and is available in single or tandem axle configurations.
Ram 2500HD & 3500HD
The Ram Heavy Duty offers a towing capacity of 35,100 pounds and a payload capacity of 7,680 pounds. Driving it all is the Cummins I-6 Turbo Diesel. Three engine options are offered and the truck is available in 4x4 and 4x4 in Regular Cab, Crew Cab (two bed lengths), and Mega Cab (4x4 only). The trucks are available in seven trim levels and offers two rear suspensions. The trucks also feature the largest-in-class available touchscreen at 12-inches, a reconfigurable center console storage, and available power running board and RamBox cargo management.
Ram Commercial 3500, 4500 & 5500 Chassis Cab
The Ram Chassis Cab 3500, 4500, and 5500 trucks represent Class 3, 4, and 5 GVW ratings, respectively. The 6.7L Cummins Turbo Diesel I-6 engine provides improved power and fuel efficiency with 360 hp and 800 lb.-ft. of torque. The Ram 3500 Chassis Cab offers a TorqueFlite 8-speed automatic for the 6.4L HEMI V-8 engine. Exclusive power take-off (PTO) options deliver improved use parameters for left- and right-side components. The trucks feature Industry standard cab to axle lengths of 60, 84, 108, and 120 inches.
