Commercial fleet sales grew 9.2% in calendar-year 2019.  

Sales from nine manufacturers totaled 774,763 within the commercial fleet segment, which represented that 9.2% year-over-year increase.  

Sales of sedans were down for the year, but the decline among sedans was offset by double-digit gains within the truck segment.  

In CY-2019, the nine manufacturers sold 75,897 sedans and 722,937 truck segment vehicles. These totals represented a 9.1% year-over-year decline and 11.4% year-over-year improvement, respectively, according to Automotive Fleet data.  

Government fleet sales totaled 253,771 in 2019, which was 5.4% less than in 2018. The decline within the government fleet segment was mainly fueled by a nearly 20% decline in sedan sales within the government fleet sector.  

Total government fleet sedan sales amounted to 36,035 in 2019, 19.2% less than in 2018. And, it wasn’t just sedan sales that were down, truck segment sales were also down. The 217,736 truck segment vehicles that were sold into the government fleet sector represented a 2.7% year-over-year decline.  

Daily rental fleet sales totaled 1,393,675 in 2019, 2.5% more than in 2018.  

Within daily rental, truck sales helped offset weaker sedan sales through 2019. The truck segment sales to daily rental companies totalled 1,066,571, which was a 5.3% improvement over 2018. Meanwhile, the 651,406 total sedan sales to daily rental companies represented a 1.4% decline compared to 2018.
