WASHINGTON – The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced that Ford is recalling 1.1 million vehicles, specifically the 1997-2004 Ford F-150, 1997-1999 Ford F-250, and 2002-2003 Lincoln Blackwood.

The automaker is recalling the vehicles due to potential corrosion of the fuel tank straps that secure the tank to the vehicle. The straps corrode over time when exposed to de-icing chemicals used on roads. Ford said its dealers will replace the straps with new, corrosion-resistant straps.
