Light- and heavy-commercial vehicle sales were down in Australia for the month of December in 2018, as were overall national vehicle sales, according to the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries.
The light commercial market was down by 2,772 vehicle sales (down 12.5%), while heavy commercial vehicle sales were down by a much smaller margin, 24 vehicles, when compared to December 2017, according to the FCAI.
The No.1 selling light-commercial vehicle in 2018 was the Toyota HiLux with 51,705 sales.
Meanwhile, national vehicle sales overall for December fell by 14.9% from the corresponding month in 2017 to 87,528 vehicles, which took sales for the year to 1,153,111 vehicles, according to the FCAI.
However, the country continued to see a shift toward SUV sales, at the expense of passenger vehicles, and accounted for 43% of vehicle sales in the market in 2018.
