Due to the routing of the wiring harness that connects the fusible link to the battery fuse terminal, the wiring harness may wear through its protective covering, allowing the wires to touch the bracket that holds the fusible link. If the wires touch the bracket, the battery terminal fuse will blow. If the vehicle is in motion, the fuel pump will stop, causing the vehicle to stop running.
Nissan dealers will inspect and reposition the wiring harness and apply a protective covering to it at no charge, according to documents filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
