Operational leasing represents approximately 20 percent of the total leasing car market in Romania.

“In the last few years, the number of registered cars in operational leasing increased compared to that of cars acquired through financial leasing as well as a percentage from the number of registered cars,” noted Olimpia Dumitrescu, commercial director LeasePlan Romania. “The potential of the operational leasing market is estimated at 8,000-10,000 new units per year. Currently, more 1,000 companies are using operational leasing and fleet management services, most of them being multinationals.”

There are some challenges faced by Romanian fleets, particularly, the poor quality of services provided by workshops and undeveloped network of suppliers, e.g., tires.
