Daimler Truck and its Japanese subsidiary Mitsubishi Fuso Bus and Truck Corporation announced the handover of the first Fuso Next Generation eCanter to Yamoto Transport.

The all-electric truck is the first of around 900 Next Generation eCanters Yamoto Transport ordered from Fuso — the largest single order of Fuso’s light-duty eCanter. The remaining deliveries to the customer will follow sequentially from now on.

Yamato Transport's Quest for Zero Emissions

Yamato Transport is rolling out the eCanter as a key component of its mission to slash greenhouse gas emissions by 48% by 2030, compared to 2020 levels.

Its ultimate goal is to achieve near-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. To help fulfill this ambitious commitment, Yamato Transport is adopting Fuso Green Lease, a specialized leasing product provided by Daimler Truck Financial Services Asia, exclusively tailored for the eCanter.

This lease package is designed to cater to the specific needs of electric trucks and encompasses a comprehensive eMobility ecosystem, including vehicle maintenance services and special warranties.

eCanter Fleet to Drive Carbon Neutrality Across Japan

The eCanter first made its debut in 2017 under the Fuso brand as Japan's mass-produced electric light-duty truck, boasting zero CO2 emissions during operation and ensuring a quieter, smoother ride for drivers.

Over the past five years, numerous customers around the globe have integrated the Fuso eCanter into their businesses, offering valuable real-world insights.

Fuso incorporated this feedback into the development of the Next Generation eCanter.

Yamato Transport, an early adopter of the eCanter technology, introduced 25 units of the first-generation eCanter into their fleet in 2017.

Having observed its positive impact on their home delivery and logistics services in Japan over several years, Yamato Transport has decided to deploy approximately 900 units of the Next Generation eCanter nationwide.

The Next Generation eCanter, launched earlier this year in various European markets, Japan, and several overseas markets, further underscores Fuso's commitment to sustainable transportation. In a recent milestone, Fuso introduced the eCanter for the first time in Indonesia and Chile last month.
