GM electric vehicle users will be able to access more vehicle-to-home (V2H) energy supply options when their EVs can plug into a home's electrical system, GM Energy announced recently as it disclosed more product details and specs for its upcoming Ultium Home offerings.

Those offerings will be the first solutions available to residential customers through GM Energy, and are designed to enable the use of backup power for home needs during times when the grid lacks power supply.

Solar integration

In addition to the Ultium Home products, customers seeking to draw on solar energy may work with SunPower (NASDAQ:SPWR), GM Energy’s exclusive solar provider and a preferred EV charger installer, to deliver power to their home and vehicle with clean energy generated from their rooftops, providing potential savings on electricity costs.

Each of these Ultium Home products will be connected to the GM Energy cloud, a software platform which will allow customers to seamlessly manage the transfer of energy between applicable and connected GM Energy assets.

Prices and timelines for delivery for each of Ultium Home’s initial product bundles will vary.
