Mitsubishi Motors Europe B.V., Tokyo-based Mitsubishi Motors' subsidiary in Europe, has unveiled the all-new Colt compact hatchback for the European market with a planned October showroom presence.

The new Colt offers two powertrains: full hybrid (HEV) and a gasoline-powered engine. The HEV model comprises a 1.6-liter gasoline engine; two electric motors (an alternator-starter and a main motor); an automatic, multi-mode gearbox; and a 1.2 kWh battery. Available on the gasoline model is a 1.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with a 6-speed manual transmission or a 1.0-liter gasoline engine with a 5-speed manual transmission.

The redesigned Colt's advanced safety features include-

  • Adaptive cruise control with Stop & Go (ACC).
  • Lane departure prevention.
  • Easy park assist-forward collision mitigation system.
  • Lane departure warning.
  • Automatic high beam.
  • Traffic Sign Recognition system
  • Blind spot warning.
  • Rear cross traffic alert.

The Colt interior is equipped with Smartphone-link Display Audio. Using a 7-inch or 9.3-inch, display, the driver can access the multi-sense system to personalize the drive mode, engine and steering response, and ambient lighting.

The model’s seventh generation launched in Europe, the new Colt is based on the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance CMF-B platform. Developed by Renault, the updated Colt will be manufactured at Renault's Bursa plant in Turkey. According to the carmaker, the Colt model debuted in 1967 and sold more than 1.2 million units in Europe between1978 and 2014.
