In 2024, Volvo Cars will start fulfilling U.S. customer preorders for the EX30, the company’s first ever fully electric premium small SUV.

Customers across the U.S. placed deposits for the Volvo EX30 after it was revealed in Milan in June 2023. While it has become one of the best-selling electric vehicles in Europe, customers and fleets in the U.S. have been waiting for it to arrive.

The EX30 has already won several awards, including the 2023 Popular Science Best of What’s New, 2024 World Urban Car of the Year, and the prestigious Red Dot award: Best of the Best Product Design 2024.

In response to strong consumer demand, Volvo Car USA has prioritized the most requested model, the 422 hp EX30 Twin Motor Performance, available in Plus or Ultra equipment levels with a starting MSRP of $44,900.

The single motor variant is still scheduled to come to the U.S. later in 2025, as Volvo announced earlier this year.

Customers with an existing preorder reservation for the Volvo EX30 are invited to configure their cars on Volvo’s website, with deliveries of select examples to begin before the end of this year.

“Volvo has been and always will be about people, which is why we worked hard to make the Volvo EX30 available sooner than anticipated for our customers,” Mike Cottone, president of Volvo Car USA and Canada, said. “The EX30 has already proved exceptionally popular in other markets, and we’re excited to bring it to the U.S. this year.”

EX30's Performance and Fast Charging Capabilities

Every Volvo car comes with a Scandinavian design, which is expected of the brand, but the Twin Motor Performance adds capable all-wheel drive and quicker acceleration to the EX30. According to a company statement, it’s the quickest accelerating Volvo to date.

The EX30 also features fast charging. The extended-range Twin Motor Performance variant has a charging capacity up to 153 kW and an EPA range of 253 miles. This enables the battery to be charged from 10 to 80 percent in a little over 25 minutes.

For comparison purposes, models equipped with 19-in. wheels have an EPA-certified electric driving range of up to 253 miles (116 city/ 100 highway/ 109 combined mpge) when the battery is fully charged and under ideal driving conditions.

Charging times are dependent on factors such as outdoor temperature, current battery temperature, charging equipment, battery condition, and car condition.
