VinFast Allies with ProLogium for Solid-State Battery Development

Vietnamese electric vehicle producer VinFast has invested tens of millions of U.S. dollars in ProLogium, a solid-state battery manufacturer, and will collaborate with the battery maker to secure next-generation solid-state battery supplies.
The two companies will enter into commercial agreements to develop battery pack designs using Prologium's proprietary solid-state battery technology, adhering to VinFast’s specifications on parameters, quality and safety.
Under the strategic cooperation arrangements, ProLogium will provide solid-state battery cells to VinFast starting in 2024. ProLogium’s first major solid state battery plant, slated to launch in early 2023, will focus primarily on production capacity to supply VinFast.
A promising technology, solid-state batteries offer advantages in terms of safety, energy density, hyper fast-charging capability, recyclability, weight optimization, costs and lifetime, according to VinFast.
"VinFast has focused on investing and building strategic partnerships with leading companies in the industry and breakthrough technology companies to quickly grasp and apply technologies for smart and sustainable mobility solutions," said Le Thi Thu Thuy, VinFast Global CEO.
Established in 2017, Hanoi-based VinFast owns a state-of-the-art automotive manufacturing complex with globally leading scalability that boasts up to 90% automation in Hai Phong, Vietnam. The company is the latest core venture of the private conglomerate Vingroup.
The company recently announced with an initial investment of $US2 billion in Phase 1 of constructing a manufacturing plant in North Carolina for electric cars and electric buses.
Founded in 2006, ProLogium is a global producer in next generation battery technologies for vehicle, consumer and industrial applications. The world’s first battery company to mass-produce solid-state lithium ceramic batteries, the company’s proprietary technologies cover more than 500 patents worldwide, and its automated pilot production line has provided nearly 8,000 solid-state battery sample cells to global car manufacturers for testing and module development.
