Toyota Corolla Hatchback Recalled for Transmission Issue
Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing is recalling an estimated 3,424 2019 Corolla hatchbacks equipped with continuously variable transmissions because the pump impeller blades within the torque converter may detach, especially when driven under high load.
Toyota is recalling its 2019 Corolla hatchback for the second time in two months for a possible defect involving the torque converter in its CVT.

Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing is recalling an estimated 3,424 2019 Corolla hatchbacks equipped with continuously variable transmissions because the pump impeller blades within the torque converter may detach, especially when driven under high load.
This situation can lead to an engine stall, especially if the vehicle is traveling at a high speed, increasing the odds of a collision.
To fix the problem, Toyota notified owners via letter on Jan. 28, and dealers will eventually replace the CVT and torque converter at no cost to owners. The automaker will send owners a second letter when the remedy is available at dealerships.
