Saab Names Richard O’Kelley Vice President of Sales
Richard O’Kelley has been named vice president of sales for Saab Cars USA Inc., the U.S. importer and distributor of Saab 9-5 and Saab 9-3 automobiles. O’Kelley will be responsible for management of Saab’s sales and distribution, including the achievement of Saab’s annual sales objectives for cars, parts, and accessories. Under O’Kelley’s di-rection, the regional teams, Retail Network Development (RND), distribution, and sales operations will implement Saab’s sales strategies, and will prepare the company for the arrival of a revamped product portfolio. O’Kelley reports to Dan Chasins, president and COO of Saab Cars USA Inc. Prior to this promo-tion, O’Kelley was director of RND. Earlier, he held the position of national fleet manager and be-gan his career with Saab in 1992 as a district sales manager. Prior to joining Saab, O’Kelley was vice president and general manager of Menard Enterprises, a large retail automotive operation. He also spent three years with Toyota Motor Distributors and nine years with Ford Motor Co. In conjunction with this appointment, Saab announces a change to its sales operations organiza-tion. Sales and distribution will now be split into two separate areas in order to provide sharper focus on each of these core business units. Gordon Wolter has been named the director of distribution and vehicle management, responsible for distribution, volume planning, and car administration. Heather Stewart, transferring from Saab Financial Services Corp., is the director of sales operations, responsible for sales program develop-ment, commercial fleet programs, international and diplomatic sales, and used-car programs.
