What can U.S. fleet managers learn by looking outside the U.S.? John Rossant, founder of CoMotion and a global mobility leader, joined Automotive Fleet’s Chris Brown ahead of his keynote at the 2026 Fleet Forward Conference to discuss how AI, electrification, and autonomy are developing around the world.
Rossant sees fleets sitting at an important intersection between artificial intelligence and the energy transition. Fleet operations generate enormous amounts of data, making them a natural fit for AI, while also managing expensive physical assets and infrastructure.
Ford Pro Advantage launches nationwide Oct. 5 as a certified pre-owned program specifically for commercial trucks and vans. The program covers Class 1-7 vehicles, including trucks, vans, chassis cabs, and cutaways.
Ford says it will particularly target high-demand commercial vehicles around two to three years old with 30,000 to 70,000 miles. For fleets and smaller businesses, the program adds another potential path to acquiring vehicles without buying new.
And one of the most routine employee transitions can create an unexpected fleet problem: What happens to the company vehicle when its assigned driver leaves?
A structured vehicle offboarding process should begin before the employee’s final day. Keys are only one piece of the handoff. Fleets also need to account for registration and insurance documents, fuel cards, maintenance records, toll transponders, telematics equipment, cameras, mileage reporting, vehicle condition, and any previously unreported damage or violations.
Finally, U.S. Bank is bringing another fleet expense into its Voyager platform. The company has integrated Verra Mobility’s toll management services, allowing customers to manage toll payments and violations alongside fuel, EV charging, and maintenance expenses.
