Nissan's 2020 Versa debuted during a music festival in Florida as a heavily updated subcompact sedan that adds an array of driver-assisting tech, much sportier styling, and a more powerful engine.
Nissan will also be dropping the smaller Versa Note sedan from its lineup after the 2019 model year, a company spokesman told CarsDirect.
The third-generation 2020 Versa adds an array of safety technology with its Safety Shield 360 that includes as standard equipment automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, rear automatic braking, lane departure warning and high beam assist. Available equipment includes blind spot warning, rear cross traffic alert, a driver alertness feature, and adaptive cruise control.
The sedan will be powered by a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 122 horsepower and 114 pound-feet of torque. That's an increase of 13 hp and 7 lb.-ft.
Nissan will show the vehicle at the New York auto show.
