Other available engines include the three Skyactiv-G engines, in 1.5L, 2.0L, and 2.5L variations, and the Skyactiv-D 1.8 diesel, which allows the engine to utilize high-pressure, precisely controlled multi-stage injection, according to the automaker.

The new Mazda3 will be available as a hatchback or sedan. Also available on the new Mazda is a G-Vectoring system that uses engine torque to shift weight for better handling.

Mazda also announced ergonomic improvements for the Mazda3 through its Skyactiv-Vehicle Architecture, which has designed the seats to better support the spine, pelvis, thighs, and rib cage.

The 2019 Mazda3 will include a suite of safety features via the automaker’s i-Activsense technology. This includes a new driver monitoring system that has the capability to observe driver fatigue or attentiveness, and sound alerts when appropriate. Other active safety features include front cross traffic alert and cruising and traffic support, which also aims to reduce driver fatigue in high-traffic areas.

Passive safety features include an improved vehicle frame to withstand impacts and knee airbags.
