Hyundai has priced its 2019 Kona Electric at $36,450, but the vehicle's net price would come in at $29,995 when factoring in the federal vehicle tax credit of $7,500 and delivery charges.
Buyers would also be able to take advantage of state tax incentives, including California's $2,500 rebate (based on income eligibility). Hyundai will announce trim grades for the vehicle shortly.
The Kona Electric should deliver a range of 258 miles, which would exceed the range of most other battery-electric vehicles now available.
The vehicle will offer an "abundant suite of safety equipment," according to Hyundai.
"We're confident it will set new standards for the electric-propelled compact CUV segment with outstanding value, range flexibility, appealing design, cutting-edge connectivity and class-leading available safety features," said Mike O’Brien, Hyundai's vice president of product, corporate and digital planning.
