General Motors will offer its hands-free driving feature Super Cruise on every Cadillac vehicle in 2020, and after that offer it on Chevrolet and its other brands, the company has announced.

Cadillac is also preparing to offer vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communications on a high-volume crossover by 2023 and expand that technology across its portfolio. It will enable communication between the vehicle and infrastructure, pedestrians, devices, and the grid.

Mark Reuss, GM's executive vice president of global product development, purchasing and supply chain, announced the plans at the Intelligent Transportation Society's annual conference in Detroit on June 6.

Super Cruise is a driver assistance feature enabled by LiDAR map data, high-precision GPS, a driver attention system, and a network of camera and radar sensors. It requires an active OnStar service plan with emergency services. Drivers can pilot the vehicle hands-free on more than 130,000 miles of limited-access freeways in the U.S. and Canada.
