Subaru has announced pricing for the 2027 Forester and Forester Hybrid, including the first Forester Wilderness to use a hybrid powertrain.

The 2027 Forester starts at $29,995, unchanged from the previous model year, while the new Forester Wilderness Hybrid starts at $40,495. The lineup is expected to arrive at Subaru retailers later this fall.

For 2027, the gas-powered Forester is offered in Base, Premium, Wilderness and Limited trims. The hybrid lineup includes Premium Hybrid, Sport Hybrid, Wilderness Hybrid, Limited Hybrid and Touring Hybrid. Subaru has discontinued the gas-only Sport, Sport Onyx Edition and Touring trims.

Forester Wilderness Gets Hybrid Option

The new Forester Wilderness Hybrid combines Subaru's series-parallel hybrid powertrain with 9.3 inches of ground clearance, Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, dual-mode X-MODE and Yokohama GEOLANDAR all-terrain tires.

Hybrid Foresters use an Atkinson/Miller-cycle 2.5-liter BOXER engine paired with electric motors and a lithium-ion battery for 194 combined horsepower.

Gas-powered Forester models use a 2.5-liter BOXER engine producing 180 hp. All Forester models use a Lineartronic continuously variable transmission.

The gas-powered Forester Wilderness also returns for 2027. It has 9.3 inches of ground clearance, all-terrain tires, underbody protection, a revised final-drive ratio and transmission cooler. Its towing capacity is rated at 3,500 pounds.

New for 2027, the gas Wilderness adds a heated steering wheel and heated rear outboard seats.

Technology and Driver-Assistance Features

All 2027 Forester trims have at least 8.7 inches of ground clearance, Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive and EyeSight driver-assistance technology.

Most models receive an 11.6-inch multimedia touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. A 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster is standard on the Forester Wilderness and all Forester Hybrid trims.

Standard EyeSight features on the base Forester include Advanced Adaptive Cruise Control with Lane Centering, Lane Departure Prevention and Pre-Collision Braking.

Depending on trim, additional equipment includes Blind-Spot Detection with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, Reverse Automatic Braking, a 360-degree Surround View Monitor and DriverFocus Distraction Mitigation System.

2027 Forester Pricing

Pricing starts at $29,995 for the Forester Base and $34,730 for the Premium Hybrid. The gas-powered Wilderness starts at $39,495, while the new Wilderness Hybrid carries a $40,495 starting MSRP.

At the top of the lineup, the Touring Hybrid starts at $41,545 and includes features such as ventilated front seats, heated rear outboard seats, a 360-degree Surround View Monitor and Smart Rearview Mirror.

Subaru said nearly all returning trims retain their 2026 pricing. The 2027 Forester and Forester Hybrid are assembled in Lafayette, Indiana, and Gunma, Japan.
