Automotive Fleet
John Dmochowsky, retired senior global fleet manager for Mondelēz International, has been inducted into the Automotive Fleet Hall of Fame.
Dmochowsky spent 19 years in fleet management during an almost four-decade career with Kraft and Mondelēz International, building a reputation for global fleet leadership and cost management.
From Food Sales to Global Fleet
Dmochowsky began his career with Kraft, spending 17 years in food sales before transitioning into fleet management.
Following the separation of Mondelēz International from Kraft, Dmochowsky became Mondelēz International’s first fleet manager. He went on to manage a multinational fleet of approximately 10,100 vehicles and helped build the company’s global fleet organization.
Under Dmochowsky’s leadership, his team worked to harmonize fleet policy and change the company’s global vehicle-selection process. Those efforts contributed to a 21% reduction in global fleet spend from 2015 to 2016, followed by a further 7% reduction in total cost of ownership between 2016 and 2019.
“To me, the word 'fleet' represents unlimited opportunity: the chance to thrive in an environment centered on collaboration, education, and relationship building,” said Dmochowsky. “Recognizing this has reminded me just how blessed I am to be part of the fleet ecosystem. I could not have earned this award without the incredible team I get to work alongside every day.”
Recognized Fleet Leadership
Dmochowsky’s work earned recognition both in the United States and internationally.
In 2017, he was named Automotive Fleet’s Professional Fleet Manager of the Year.
At the 2019 Fleet Europe Summit, Dmochowsky received the European Safety Fleet Manager of the Year Award and was runner-up for Global Fleet Manager of the Year. He became the first American fleet manager to receive an award at the event.
Dmochowsky also shared his experience with fleet professionals internationally, speaking at Global Fleet conferences in Brussels, Rome, Miami, and São Paulo.
Giving Back to the Fleet Community
Beyond his corporate fleet accomplishments, Dmochowsky’s nominators highlighted his willingness to share his knowledge with other fleet professionals.
His involvement has continued through mentoring and participation in industry events, allowing him to share lessons learned from managing a large, complex global fleet.
