GM Shifts Leadership Roles in Canada, Middle East
General Motors has named John Roth president and managing director of GM Africa and Middle East operations following the retirement of Mario Spangenberg, who currently holds the position.

General Motors has named John Roth president and managing director of GM Africa and Middle East operations following the retirement of Mario Spangenberg, who currently holds the position.
Roth currently serves as GM Canada’s VP of sales, service, and marketing, a role he has held since 2013. In his new role, Roth will be responsible for growing the Chevrolet, Cadillac, GMC and ACDelco business throughout the region, according to General Motors. Roth will be based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

Bell
Spangenberg has elected to retire on July 1 after 38 years in the auto industry, 15 of which were with GM.
Roth will report to Alan Batey, GM executive vice president, president of GM North America and head of GM Africa and Middle East operations and Global Chevrolet, according to the automaker.
Scott Bell, director of Sales Operations for Chevrolet in the U.S, will be taking Roth’s place once he moves into his new postion. He will be responsible for marketing, sales and service across all four GM brands: Chevrolet, Cadillac, Buick and GMC.

Spangenberg
Bell will report to Steve Carlisle, president and managing director of GM Canada. He will also join GM Canada’s Executive Committee and GM Canada’s board of directors, according to the automaker.
