General Motors is investing approximately $368 million in renovating and expanding one of its industrial complexes in Brazil.
GM’s industrial complex of São Caetano do Sul will be demolishing older buildings to make way for new facilities with modern industrial technology, according to GM Authority. The complex currently builds several Chevrolet brands for Brazil, including Cobalt, Onix, Spin, and Montana.
The facility is located in São Caetano do Sul, Sao Paulo, Brazil.
The amount is part of the company's biggest investment ever in Brazil, from a total of $4 billion to be spent between 2014 and 2020, reports Just Auto. The building will be fitted with a transparent roof, LED lighting with automatic dimming and natural ventilation, and other sustainable building measures.
Annual capacity at the complex will increase from 250,000 vehicles per year to 330,000 vehicles, reports GM Authority.
The announcement follows the country seeing improvements in several of its economic segments, including agribusiness, petroleum exports, and commodities.
