Registrations in the German true fleet market saw 38.5% decline in September following the Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicle Test Procedure (WLTP) deadline on Sept. 1, which requires manufacturers to ensure certain vehicles meet a new required emissions standard before they are able to legally sell them in Europe.

This is the lowest registration month for the German fleet market in the last nine years, according to a report from Dataforce. Meanwhile, overall new vehicle registrations in the region dropped 30.5% and were at their lowest point since September 1985.

Despite the WLTP, BMW was the leading OEM with regards to registrations in the true fleet market, which was the first time the manufacturer named the top spot in September, reports Dataforce. This was followed by Mercedes-Benz in second, Volkswagen in third, Škoda in fourth place, and Ford in fifth place.

For Ford, the automaker saw registration increases for the Fiesta, Ecosport, C-Max, and S-Max, but the Focus dropped 85%, according to Dataforce.
