Gasoline Topping Out at 3-Month High

The average national price of gasoline remained a notch under $3.30 per gallon for the third week in a row, as the fuel has been steadily rising since mid-November, according to federal records.
The price of gasoline fell three-tenths of a cent to $3.292 per gallon for the week ending Feb. 3 as it again inched lower. The current price is now 24.6 cents lower than a year ago, reports the U.S. Energy Information Administration.
Gasoline has been inching higher since reaching $3.194 per gallon on Nov. 11, when it set a nearly three-year low. It is now 0.98 cent above that level, a 3.06 percent move.
Prices fell in most of regions tracked, including a leading 2.1 cents in the Lower Atlantic region in the past week. The Midwest was the region with the leading price increase at 1.4 cents. All 50 states remained above the $3-per-gallon level, according to AAA's Daily Fuel Gauge Report.
Meanwhile, the average price for diesel rose 4.7 cents to $3.951 for the week ending Feb. 3. Diesel is 7.1 cents lower than it was a year ago.
