WASHINGTON, D.C. --- For the third consecutive week, the U.S. average retail price for regular gasoline decreased, falling 8.1 cents to $3.076 per gallon as of June 11. Prices were still, however, 17.0 cents per gallon higher than this time last year, reported the Energy Department's Energy Information Administration (EIA) in its weekly report. All regions reported price decreases. East Coast prices dropped 4.6 cents to $3.022 per gallon. The largest regional decrease was found in the Midwest, where prices fell 15.2 cents to $3.073 per gallon. Prices for the Gulf Coast decreased 5.8 cents to $2.962 per gallon, while Rocky Mountain prices fell 3.5 cents to $3.225 per gallon. West Coast prices were down 5.3 cents to $3.265 per gallon. The average price for regular grade in California was down 5.4 cents to $3.320 per gallon, but remained 9.5 cents per gallon above last year's price, the EIA reported. Retail diesel prices fell for the second consecutive week, decreasing 0.7 cent to $2.792 per gallon. Diesel prices were 12.6 cents per gallon lower than at this time last year. East Coast diesel prices fell 0.5 cent to $2.789 per gallon. In the Midwest, diesel prices were down 1.1 cents to $2.753 per gallon, while the Gulf Coast saw a decrease of 0.7 cent to $2.742 per gallon. Rocky Mountain diesel prices were down 2.1 cents to $2.937 per gallon. The only region reporting an increase was the West Coast, where prices rose 1.0 cent to $2.941 per gallon. California diesel prices rose 2.5 cents to $2.997 per gallon, but remained 22.0 cents per gallon lower than at this time last year.
