Fleet Industry Symposium to Be Held at Manheim's DRIVE Center Nov. 17-19

STOCKBRIDGE, GA – The National Association of Fleet Administrators (NAFA) Atlanta Chapter's Fleet Industry Symposium 2005 will be held Nov. 17-19 at Manheim's DRIVE Center in Stockbridge, just outside of Atlanta.

STOCKBRIDGE, GA – The National Association of Fleet Administrators (NAFA) Atlanta Chapter’s Fleet Industry Symposium 2005 will be held Nov. 17-19 at Manheim’s DRIVE Center in Stockbridge, just outside of Atlanta. The event will be co-hosted by NAFA’s Atlanta Chapter and DRIVE. Topics to be covered during the Symposium include the remarketing process, use of guidebooks, value of reconditioning, and projected residual values. Registration fee is $125. Registration must be submitted by Nov. 14. Attendees will stay at the Hilton Airport Atlanta. Room rates are $119 per night. To reserve a room, call (800) 445-8667 and ask for the “NAFA” room block. Thurs., Nov. 17:
6-8 pm: Reception with heavy hors d’oeuvres at the DRIVE Center.

Morning:
8:30: Arrive at DRIVE. Breakfast served.
8:45: Symposium Kickoff – NAFA Welcome.
9-9:45: Value of Reconditioning: David Munnikhuysen, Manheim.

  • Discussion of the value of reconditioning and an opportunity to see cutting-edge reconditioning technology applied in a laboratory environment.
    9:45: Remarketing 101: Steve Greenfield, Manheim.

  • Review of the entire vehicle lifecycle, emphasizing the value different parties bring to the remar-keting relationship.
    10:15-10:30: Break
    10:30-11:30: Macro Factors Impacting Your Portfolio: Maryann Keller, president, Maryann Keller & Associ-ates, and Tom Webb, Manheim.

  • Review the recent past and upcoming trends that will impact the commercial fleet industry. Specifi-cally, how the new car market will impact residual values and “effective” depreciation.
    11:30-noon: Auction Theory: Eric Overby, Goizueta Business School.

  • To communicate the value of a competitive bidding environment to maximize price realization – examples used will be from outside the automotive realm. Session will conclude with a “mock” auction in the DRIVE theater.

    1-1:30: Upstream Remarketing: Jim McKnight, Online Vehicle Exchange.

  • Selling vehicles through alternative channels.
    1:30-2:30: Industry Panel: Vehicle Remarketing

  • Challenges & Opportunities.

  • Moderated by Julie Andersen (Emercent Solutions)

  • Panelists: Darrin Aiken (Wheels), Bill Cieslak (PHH), Howard Graus (ARI), Jack Pierce (Lease-Plan), Paul Seger (GE Remarketing), Jeff Bescher (Emkay), Layne Weber (Donlen).
    2:30-2:45: Break
    2:45-5: Concurrent Breakout Sessions

  • Participants will rotate through three separate 45-minute breakout sessions, moderated by com-mercial fleet-remarketing guests, the subject of which will be issues specific to the commercial fleet industry.

    Topics Include:

  • Guidebooks (MMR, Black Book, AuctionNet, AMR). Moderator: Mike Antich, editor, Automotive Fleet magazine.

  • Reconditioning. Moderator: David Munnikhuysen, Manheim.

  • Driver Sale. Moderator: Jim McKnight.
    5: Dinner: Hosted at DRIVE

    Sat., Nov. 19:

    Morning:
    9-11: DRIVE “Dive” Session at the DRIVE CENTER (Moderated by Bill Treasurer):

  • All individuals are invited to participate in a brainstorming session to attack the issue covered in the previous day’s breakout sessions. Results will be published as a DRIVE-endorsed “white paper.”

    Lunch: At DRIVE
    Afternoon: Golf or other leisure activities.
