DOT Announces Rollover Resistance Ratings
U.S. Transportation Secretary Rodney E. Slater announced on Jan. 9 the first rollover resistance ratings for passenger vehicles as the U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) finalized a ratings program that provides consumers with a measure of a vehicle’s resistance to rolling over in a single-vehicle crash. The program gives “star” ratings for rollover resistance as part of the agency’s new car assessment program. The highest rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.
