General Motors has revived its Blazer nameplate with the 2019 Chevrolet Blazer midsize SUV that will slot between the Equinox and Traverse, and will offer two rows of seating, plenty of technology and two engine options.

The 2019 Blazer will be powered by two engine choices, including a standard Ecotec 2.5-liter inline-four cylinder that makes 193 horsepower and 188 pound-feet of torque or a 3.6-liter V-6 that makes 305 hp and 269 lb.-ft. Both engines use stop-start technology and deliver power through a nine-speed automatic transmission to a front-wheel drivetrain. Drivers can switch to all-wheel drive on the fly with Traction Select, which disconnects the rear axle on an all-wheel-drive model.

Driver convenience options include Hitch Guidance, Hitch View, wireless charging, six USB ports, an electronic-locking glove box, automatic heated steering wheel and front seats, and comfort-open windows. Higher-trim-grade features include heated outboard rear seats, adaptive cruise control, adaptive cruise control, and a rear camera mirror.

G.M. produced several versions with the Blazer name over the years, including the full-size K5 Blazer based on the C/K pickup chassis from 1969 to 1999 that was later renamed to Tahoe; the S-10 Blazer based on the S-10 pickup produced from 1983 to 2005; and the TrailBlazer trim package of the S-10 Blazer until 2002.

The 2019 Blazer will arriive at dealer lots in early 2019. Pricing and other details will be announced closer to the start of production.
