WASHINGTON, D.C. --- The U.S. average retail price for regular gasoline fell for the fifth consecutive week, sliding another 7.1 cents to hit $3.809 per gallon, according to a weekly report released by the Energy Department on Aug. 13. That's a cumulative loss of 30.5 cents from the all-time high of July 7, the department's Energy Information Administration (EIA) noted.
Falling more than any other region, the price on the East Coast plunged 8.9 cents to $3.799 per gallon. The smallest drop of any region -- 4.1 cents -- was in the Midwest where the price slipped to $3.731 per gallon.
