TULSA, OK - AT&T has added 16 new Toyota Prius vehicles to its Oklahoma fleet, according to NewsOK.com. The telecommunications company is ranked No. 1 on Automotive Fleet's 2010 Top 300 Commercial Fleets listing.

The 2010 Prius hybrids were delivered Aug. 4, the company announced, as part of AT&T's initiative to spend about $565 million to replace more than 15,000 fleet vehicles with alternative-fuel models through 2018.

The new cars will be used by employees in several Oklahoma communities, including Ardmore, Bethany, Edmond, Enid, Norman, Oklahoma City, Pauls Valley, Tulsa and Yukon, AT&T Oklahoma President Bryan Gonterman said, reported NewsOK.com.

"Since last year, AT&T has been replacing its older-model vehicles with new hybrid cars and service vans powered by compressed natural gas," Gonterman said. "We're excited about the opportunities this initiative provides to reduce our carbon emissions and lower our company's overall fuel costs."

Last year, AT&T Oklahoma added 30 CNG-powered vans to its fleet in Oklahoma City and Tulsa. The move was prompted in part by state tax incentives for alternative-fuel vehicles adopted by Oklahoma lawmakers, reported NewsOK.com.
