Fleet operators have more data than ever. The harder problem is finding enough time to analyze it and determining which issues require action first.

A session at the 2026 Fleet Forward Conference will examine how agentic AI could help close that gap. “Too Much Data, Not Enough Direction: How Agentic AI Is Helping Fleets Cut TCO” will take place Wednesday, Oct. 21, from 1:15 to 2 p.m. at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center in National Harbor, Md.

Moving Beyond Fleet Data Overload

Modern fleets generate information through telematics systems, repair orders, fuel transactions, inspections, and utilization reports. Lean fleet teams may lack the time to connect those sources and identify emerging problems before they become larger expenses.

Agentic AI represents a step beyond using artificial intelligence to summarize reports or answer individual questions. The technology is designed to reason across multiple data sources, prioritize findings, and recommend — or, under defined controls, initiate — specific actions.

For fleets, potential applications include identifying vehicles due for maintenance, detecting recurring fuel waste, flagging underutilized assets, and surfacing operating patterns that may otherwise remain buried across separate systems.

The session will explore how fleets can apply these capabilities to three areas with a direct effect on total cost of ownership:

  • Improving maintenance timing
  • Identifying and curbing fuel waste
  • Finding rightsizing and utilization opportunities

The discussion will also focus on how fleets can move beyond reactive analysis. Instead of waiting for a manager to assemble and review multiple reports, agentic systems could continuously monitor incoming information and bring the highest-priority decisions forward.

Practical AI for Lean Fleet Teams

The objective is not to remove fleet managers from operational decisions. Rather, the session will examine how AI can reduce the manual work required to identify problems and give managers clearer, ready-to-use recommendations.

Attendees will learn where agentic AI differs from conventional analytics, which fleet workflows may be appropriate for greater automation, and how the technology could help teams act on data they already collect.

The 2026 Fleet Forward Conference takes place Oct. 20–22 at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center, near Washington, D.C.
