The 2019 Mercedes-Benz A-Class sedan will arrive at U.S. dealerships in February as the new entry-level model that provides another option for companies that offer C-Class or CLA sedans to sales associates.
Mercedes-Benz USA is offering the 2019 A-Class as the front-wheel-drive A220 or all-wheel-drive A200 4Matic. The A220 will retail for $32,500, while the 4Matic variant will retail for $34,500. Prices don't include a $995 delivery fee. The company is expected to announce a fleet incentive for the vehicle by March.
"The A-Class becomes the new gateway for the Mercedes-Benz brand," said Michael Minielly, a company spokesperson. "We would anticipate it would be a highly compelling vehicle for many buyers in different segments."
While earlier A-Class models have been sold in Europe, the 2019 model will be the first sedan variant sold in global markets. The A-Class is also entering the U.S. market for the first time.
In addition to a price tag that's more affordable than the CLA or C-Class, the A-Class will also bring the new MBUX infotainment system that can also be found on the Sprinter van. The system recognizes natural speech patterns for vehicle commands, and offers touchscreen capabilities and a new touchpad. The multimedia display and instrument panel screens measure 7 inches.
Both models are powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four-cylinder engine that makes 188 horsepower and 221 pound-feet of torque. It delivers power via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.
Standard safety technology includes active brake assist, crosswind assist and adaptive braking technology with hill start assist and a "hold" function.
