WASHINGTON – Chrysler Group LLC is recalling 67,872 2010 model-year Jeep Wranglers because the automatic transmission skid plate, which is near the catalytic converter, has the potential to collect debris.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the problem poses a fire risk.

To remedy the problem, Chrysler dealers will replace the skid plate with a skid bar. There will be no charge for this service. The recall gets under way this month. Vehicle owners can reach Chrysler at (800) 853-1403.
