WASHINGTON, D.C. --- Honda is recalling MY 2001 Civic and Accord vehicles because of a problem with the driver's side airbag.
The driver's airbag inflator could produce excessive internal pressure, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) website. If an airbag with this problem deploys, the increased internal pressure may cause the inflator to rupture. As a result, metal fragments could pass through the airbag cushion material, posing the threat of injury to those inside the vehicle.
Dealers will replace the airbag inflator free of charge. Vehicles owners can reach Honda at (800) 999-1009.
