ALBANY, NY --- The New York State Senate passed a bill that would prohibit drivers under 18 from using electronic devices like iPods, Blackberrys and cell phones while operating a vehicle.

The bill would also require parents or guardians to attend court appearances for any traffic violations. Moreover, the legislation would authorize the Department of Motor Vehicles to produce "Safe Teen NY" stickers to help spread the message, ABC News Channel 36 reported June 17.

The bill now moves to the Assembly for consideration.
