Addressing a potential future decrease in consumer lease and factory sales volumes at auctions, industry veterans Tony Moorby and Bob McDevitt have started a new company called Flying Lion Dealer Services. Flying Lion will provide dealers and fleet clients with a variety of remarketing services, including transportation, marshalling, reconditioning, inspection, certification, administration, and sales. Both founders come from ADT Automotive, where Moorby was CEO and McDevitt was senior vice president of sales and operations. Moorby and McDevitt said Flying Lion clients may choose from several sales and remarketing options, such as representation at auction, Internet sales, and wholesale/retail sales directly from the facility. Clients can opt for a "total package" approach, or they can choose services a la carte. Flying Lion will also act as a professional purchasing agent at an out-of-town dealer's request, and they will purchase fleet and dealer clients' vehicles on a limited basis. On the reconditioning side, clients may select from a menu of services ranging from car washes to sophisticated high-line clean-ups, as well as air-brushing, bumper cover repair, mechanical repairs, paintless dent repair, glass and interior repairs, tire replacements, and inspection and certification. The company is headquartered in Nashville, where its $3 million, nine-acre facility is located adjacent to Manheim’s Nashville Auto Auction. Moorby and McDevitt said they chose Nashville because of its increasing role in the remarketing industry, and pointed out that the city is now home to three different auto auctions: Nashville AA, Tennessee Auto Auction, and ABC Nashville (located in Old Hickory). The Flying Lion facility is similar in appearance to a new-car dealership, the founders say, and features a 6,000 square-foot showroom that houses administrative and sales offices and a dining area. The 7,500 square-foot reconditioning facility features a clean-up shop and seven service bays. The company says it can house more than 1,000 vehicles at any given time between its showroom and lots. Moorby and McDevitt said they plan to add a 3,500 square-foot Dealer Auto Mall capable of housing 15 wholesale dealers. Dealers who rent space in the Auto Mall will have access to all Flying Lion administrative and operational services. Tony Moorby can be contacted at and Bob McDevitt can be reached at
