Fiat Chrysler Automobiles is recalling approximately 25,004 2019 Jeep Renegade and Fiat 500X vehicles because incorrect software may cause the occupant restraint controller module to disable certain passive safety features.

In the event of a crash, deactivated passive safety features can increase the chance of injury.

To fix the problem, FCA will notify owners, and dealers will update the module's software, at no cost to owners.

The recall begins May 30. Owners can reach FCA customer service at (800) 853-1403. FCA’s reference number for this recall is V42.
