Subaru will debut its sixth-generation 2020 Outback at the New York auto show later this month for a nameplate that has in some ways led the recent buying trend toward crossovers and SUVs.

Subaru announced the news, and gave few details about the new Outback, which will be unveiled at 11:15 a.m. East Coast time on April 17.

The 2015 Outback entered its fifth generation as a crossover that opted for a more SUV-like exterior styling that moved it away from past wagon-like design schemes.
