Atlanta-based utility Southern Company Gas has expanded the role of Jeff Peoples to include supervision of the company's vehicle fleet. Peoples has been named executive vice president and chief administrative officer, the company announced.

Starting Sept. 1, Peoples will supervise Southern Company Services as the president of its AGL Services Company. He will be the "single point of contact" for organizations that connect with Southern Company Services, which includes fleet, facilities, technology organization, supply chain, as well as compensation and benefits, according to the utility.

He will retain his respobsibilities for human resources, labor and safety at Alabama Power, safety for Southern Company's operations services, and external labor for the Southern Company system.

He began his career with Southern Company in 1984 as a chemical technician at Alabama Power's Plant Miller. Over the years, Peoples has progressed through positions of increasing responsibility in human resources, training and workforce development.
