Telematics Partnership Keeps Silverado Fleets Connected
Fleets equipped with the MY-2015 Chevrolet Silverado can stay more connected with their drivers and pickups thanks to a partnership with Telogis.

Fleets equipped with Chevrolet Silverado models dating back to 2011 can stay more connected with their drivers and pickups thanks to OnStar's partnership with Telogis.
The company’s fleet maintenance tools work in sync with OnStar technologies, allowing tracking of destination, speed and, fuel economy, engine hours, idle time and oil change status. Trucks also can be remotely locked and unlocked.
GM created an API for OnStar, which allows companies such as Telogis to use the truck's embedded connectivity to create custom solutions. Telogis was the first telematics company to take advantage of the Remote API technology, according to Stuart Fowle, communications for GM Global Connected Customer Experience.
Telogis can connect to properly equipped Chevrolet trucks using OnStar’s remote application programming interfaces in lieu of costly hardware installations in each vehicle, according to the company.
An additional advantage of the Remote API technology, according to Fowle, is that it doesn't require fleets or telematics providers to install additional hardware in a fleet's truck.
