Samsara has launched Driver Perks, a free rewards program for professional drivers that gives eligible drivers access to offers and discounts from more than 50 brands.
The program is available at no cost to either the driver or the fleet and is initially launching in the United States. Drivers in the Samsara network can access offers across categories including wellness, fitness, travel, food and beverage, learning, and automotive services.
For corporate fleets already looking at driver recruitment, retention, and employee satisfaction, Samsara sees the program as another way to recognize employees without requiring fleets to build a rewards program themselves.
Another Tool for Driver Recruitment and Retention
“Samsara gives fleets a number of ways to support and recognize their drivers for the work they do, like in-app kudos for hitting a milestone,” Johan Land, Chief Product Officer at Samsara, told Automotive Fleet. “Driver Perks adds another, and it’s available to drivers whether they’re on the clock or not. For a fleet working to retain and recruit drivers, it’s one more way to show they care about and invest in the driver experience.”
Samsara developed Driver Perks with members of its Driver Council, an advisory board that provides input into the company’s product development.
Participating brands at launch include 24 Hour Fitness, Audible, BetterHelp, BetterSleep, Dickies, Liquid I.V., OLIPOP, Truck Parking Club, Farmers Insurance, A-Premium Auto Parts, Crunch Fitness, Vans, and others.
“I've been a driver for more than 40 years and I can tell you it's rare to see a company build something like this just for us,” said Jerome Jolly, a driver at Ryan Logistics. “What stood out to me is the variety of perks. I know drivers with all kinds of interests and can see them getting a lot out of it. It's something I'll use to save money on what I already buy and try a few new things.”
Minimal Administration for Fleet Managers
Samsara said Driver Perks was designed to require little administration from the fleet itself. Samsara sources participating brands, hosts the program, and provides materials organizations can use to promote it to drivers.
“The lift for a fleet is minimal, which was intentional by design,” Land told Automotive Fleet. “Samsara sources the brands, hosts the program, and provides the materials fleets can use to promote it. Drivers can access it in the Samsara Driver App, or through a link or QR code their organization shares.”
Land said the primary role for fleet managers is making drivers aware that the program is available.
“The biggest opportunity for fleets is making sure drivers know about Driver Perks and can take advantage of the available offers,” he said. “We’ll continue adding new brands and benefits, giving drivers even more to look forward to over time.”
Eligible drivers can access Driver Perks through the Samsara Driver App, a direct web link, or a QR code shared by their organization. Individual participating brands establish their own offer terms, and drivers redeem offers directly with those brands.
The program launched as part of Samsara’s first global Driver Appreciation Month, an initiative focused on recognizing professional drivers and other frontline workers.
