Mercedes-Benz USA is recalling 252,867 2008-2011 model-year C300, C300 4Matic, C350 and C63 AMG vehicles. A poor electrical ground connection may cause the taillights on these vehicles to dim or fail, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports.
The recall covers vehicles manufactured from Jan. 26, 2007, through July 13, 2011.
Mercedes dealers will replace any bulb holders not previously updated and replace any corroded connectors, NHTSA said. The repair service will be made free of charge.
Since parts aren’t currently available, vehicle owners will be sent an interim notification in June. A second letter will be mailed when parts become available, probably in August or September of this year.
Vehicle owners can reach Mercedes at 1-800-367-6372.
