Fleet management software company Fleetmatics Group is planning to begin selling data about driving behavior to insurance companies, the company's chief executive told the Wall Street Journal.

Jim Travers, Fleetmatics' CEO, said the plan is part of the company's plan to "find other ways of monetizing data."

Fleetmatics sells a subscription service to commercial fleet owners with about 20 vehicles that allows fleet managers to track their vehicles and manage driver behavior.
