AF Editors Through the Years

When the first issue of AF was published in 1961, founding editor Ed Bobit was solely responsible for content, but he was soon backed up by an excellent automotive editor named Roy Wiley, who came from the Chicago Tribune. A [Not So] Professional Look at Women in Fleet

While pioneers like Helen Bland and Helene Kamon set a tone of professionalism for women in fleet, the industry nevertheless was a real man's world well into the early 1980s. The pages of Automotive Fleet were replete with images of women draped over cars suggestively, and ads hinted at more than automotive performance. Racing, Classic Cars Highlight Checkered Flag Sale

All eyes turned to Eugene, Oregon on August 24th and 25th when Brasher’s Northwest Auto Auction hosted the hottest event of the summer: the 6th annual Checkered Flag Sale.  The two-day sale kicked off with Team Racing and a Collector & Specialty Car Show & Sale.  The next day, the auction hosted its signature Checkered flag Sale on eight lanes of auction action.
