Wheels, Inc. has been recognized with an American Business Award for its recall communications program that provides a notification system that makes it easy for a fleet and its drivers to keep tabs on an ever-growing list of auto manufacturer recalls.
The program earned a Bronze "Stevie" in the Transportation category at the American Business Awards gala held on Sept. 11 in San Francisco. The service also won a Stevie earlier this year as part of a specialty American Business Awards event that was specifically aimed at honoring achievements in customer service.
"There were more vehicles recalled in 2014 than any other year in history," said Gail Wheeler, Wheels' assistant vice president of marketing. "It's become quite clear that vehicle recalls will continue to have a bigger effect than ever before on motorists all over the globe.
Wheeler said the recall service, which is part of Wheels' maintenance assistance program, provides drivers with automated e-mail that alert them to recall campaigns that may affect specific vehicles. Drivers also have access to live-person assistance for scheduling recall-related repairs and services at authorized maintenance facilities.
Wheels' clients can use the program to view recall notifications, and also run on-demand reports that show them which drivers have had their vehicles serviced as part of the open recalls campaigns.
The American Business Awards organization said it received more than 3,300 nominations from organizations in virtually every industry this year, with winners being selected by a panel of more than 200 business executives worldwide.
The American Business Awards gala held on Sept. 11 was the second part of the organization's main awards event for 2015. Winners of other Stevie categories were announced during a June 22 award event in Chicago, where Wheels took home a Silver Stevie in the Best Interface Design category for its revamped DriverView online portal for fleet drivers.
