Western Australia to Build Longest EV Charging Network in Country
The fast charging network will span 6,600 kilometers (4,100 miles), stretching from the city of Kununurra in the far north of the state, to Esperance on the southern coast, and to Eucla, the state’s most eastern section along the Eyre Highway.

Each location will offer both a standard and fast charger. The fast chargers, providing up to 150 kilowatt DC, will allow drivers to top up their EVs in as little as 15 minutes.

Western Australia (WA) will soon boast one of the world’s longest continuously connected electric highway as 98 charging points over 49 locations are expected to be built across its tourist routes.
The first charging station is expected to be installed in November, with the network fully operational by 2024.
“When the project is complete, there will be charging stations averaging less than 200 kilometers (124 miles) apart, ensuring electric vehicle (EV) owners can explore our amazing state without any range anxiety,” said WA Energy Minster Bill Johnston.
This $4.1 million project is funded by the WA state government. Australian charging station firm JET Charge will provide the charging units while Synergy and Horizon Power will furnish the network’s power.
“JET Charge are so proud to be involved with a landmark EV charging network that features a lot of Australian made innovation and will absolutely smash those barriers allowing people to drive EVs all over the great State of Western Australia,” said JET Charge Chief Executive Officer Tim Washington.
This project is part of the McGowan Government’s $43.5 million investment to boost EV charging infrastructure around the state.
