Volkswagen Recalls 2019 Quartet for Rear Axle Coil Springs
Volkswagen Group of America is recalling an estimated 56,173 cars and SUVs, because the rear coil springs may prematurely fracture.

Volkswagen Group of America is recalling an estimated 56,173 cars and SUVs, because the rear coil springs may prematurely fracture.
Specifically, the recall includes 2017 to 2019 Golf Sportwagen compact cars, 2019 Jetta compact sedans, 2015 to 2019 Golf compact cars, and 2018 to 2019 Tiguan compact SUVs.
In the event a coil spring breaks while the vehicle is in motion, it could potentially damage a rear tire. This scenario can cause the driver to lose control of the vehicle, which increases the chance of a collision.
To fix the problem, Volkswagen will notify owners, and dealers will replace the rear axle coil springs at no cost to owners.
The recall begins Apr. 19. Owners can reach Volkswagen customer service at (800) 893-5298. Volkswagen's number for this recall is 42J5.
